Back in the youth department of the library, in the "Folklore & Fairytales" section.
There have been fairy finders and droppings in the first 24 hours.

UPDATE: The orignal urban-fairy reading room became so damaged, that it was removed. The library has replaced it with another (Images of new fairy space)

The Folklore and Fairytales section is on
the back wall of the Youth Department.

The urban fairy library door is a teal colored double door in the end of a book case of fairy tales.

Not only a double door, but windows in several of the books.

The shelf sign reads:
Please do not touch. These books are out of circulation. Besides there may be someone living in them and it would be rude to disturb them.

The Lights inside the book are on at times and off at others.
You can move your mouse over the picture to see them on.

Looking through the doors one can see a small table and a wing-back chair.

Kathleen and I went to see and hear David Small and his wife Sarah Stewart at the Library on Saturday, November 11th. They were GREAT!

One of our favorite books is
"Eulalie and the Hopping Head".

David gave a presentation on his recent book
"Once Upon A Banana", written by Jennifer Armstrong...
Fantastic!
It is virtually wordless...in a conventional sense. There is a subtle poetic narration in the environmental signage.

So, it was a damper on the afternoon to come upstairs and see a portion of the spine of one of the fairy books had been torn off. (see the photo above).

THIS was a surprise! I went to the library to check on the condition of the spine, which was damaged a few days before. Only to find that the urban fairies of the library had moved into a corrugated box!

There is a sign requesting
people not to touch.
That appears to be very difficult to comply with. Looks like post WWII Europe. Some of the damage has been repaired. I don't know how likely it will be that anyone will see any fairies there.

May 2009

The lights are (back) on,
but no one is home... yet.
I HOPE this means they are comng back. There is still damage> The second window on teh left is still missing and the furniture that was crushed is still gone.
