The girl sprouts are coming! Not just to deliver cookies (I got mine already). I heard of 2 separate troups coming for fairy door tours!

I also heard froma local journalist that "...there's a group of ten people here to see the fairy door." ~

HA! I heard that there was a radio spot for the Bank of Ann Arbor, on 107.1FM which mentioned the fairy doors. It is a pretty good ad, funny. I contacted 107.1 and the bank and will post the ad and/or link when they send it.

Perhaps the urban fairies should open a trust fund for all the coins they get. I don't think they have any need of more money... or ANY for that matter, but it would be cute >

"Bank of Ann Arbor, for large business loans or
wee little loans."

or seasonal:

"even the fairy folk know, the Bank of Ann Arbor, better than burying your pot o' gold."

(not quite as clever/funny as "I'm on a horse" <(love that one), but not bad)

As I investigated the Bank of Ann Arbor's ad campaign, I found that my web-site was linked in their list of "Some of Our Favorite Area Landmarks"... about half way down the list (must be random order! :) ). Fun to be recognized.

Also > I received an e-mail... the Jackson Fairy Fest is coming up and I was invited. wee! I believe, it will be called "ART 634 Fairy Festival" < pics from 2009.

Coming in April - The Fairies Return to Jackson

3rd annual Fairy Festival Saturday April 24, 2010 11am - 5pm

Face painting, fairy dust, crafts, fairy kingdom, and dress up

Tea with the Rose Queen, food available.

Sadly, yesterday was a no show for the one girl sprout troup, but they intend to reschedule.

Today I read an interesting illustrated commentary in the journal/guest book that I left for the urban-fairy fairy door at Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea.
...there was a drawing of a gothic looking door in the base of a tree
(I'll have to go back and take a photo,. I am surprised that I forgot to! It was a very nice drawing), with a claim that is what REAL fairy doors look like, and NOT like they were purchased at Lowes or Home Depot. That REAL fairy doors are hand made. Below this was another note rebutting that, which I'll wil have to copy later.

As for me, I imagine that URBAN-FAIRIES are likely to integrate their entries with the buildings they choose to inhabit as form of mimicry & camoflage. And I've never seen a 7 inch door sold at either Lowes OR Home Depot. I HAVE seen small resin doors being sold elsewhere, which are obviously not real fairy doors, but a cheap attempt to trick people and fairies as some sort of impratical joke.

The wee doors at Sweetwaters, Peaceable Kingdom, RedSHoes Homegoods, Selo/Shevel Gallery, The Ark, Nicola's Books... are all REAL, they ar edefinately THERE. The general consensus is that they are indeed FAIRY doors. Though URBAN-fairy fairy doors, they are as real as any fairy door that I have ever seen.
